The Challenge

The University of Nottingham’s Pan Asian restaurant, Saijokai, was in need of a revamp. They needed graphics and overall styling to work with the existing iconic cherry blossom tree and create a Japanese street food inspired experience to increase student footfall and experience.

The Response

Designs celebrated the high-rise streets of Tokyo through bold colours and large, engaging graphics. The colour palette reflected the springtime cherry blossom at the centre of the space and blended in with existing decor.

Designs were rolled out across five-metre wall drops, doors, counters, tables, bin dividers and stand-off acrylic signs to create a fully immersive experience.

The Outcome

The restaurant serving area was covered with huge hanging banners—rather than vinyls—to allow the University to update the space with new artwork if required.

A selfie corner was installed in the restaurant as a visual photo opportunity for students to interact and share across social media.

Who Brought It To Life

Our Lead Creatives worked together to ensure the designs for Sai Jo Kai produced the atmosphere the University wanted.
